Deborah Deveney works for the RSPB and is based in Exeter.

She will talk about the Cirl Bunting Recovery Project and the work the RSPB has been doing in Devon to encourage farmers into agriculture-environment schemes.

Exit M5 at junction 19 and take A369 into Portishead (400yds) Turn first right under the footbridge into Station Rd and follow for 600yds. Turn first right into Wharf Lane….parking 150 yds. ahead.  We shall be looking for early migrants such as Sand Martins, Swallows, Chiffchaffs, and Wheatears as well as ducks and grebes that may be on the pools.  Good going underfoot but the grass will be wet if recent rain. There may be a couple of gates to negotiate, depending on which ones the farmer has locked (if any). The meeting should be over by lunchtime.

Don’t miss this early morning meeting in Blaise Woods led by Richard Bland. It will be an opportunity to practice your listening and identification skills for woodland birds.

This is an opportunity to visit the recently opened Newport Wetlands centre.

Cetti's warblers and Bearded Tits can be seen and heard in the reed-beds, and ducks, geese and swans visit the reserve in large numbers during the winter.
