ABOUT THE BOC

The Club was formed in 1966 in order to promote and encourage bird-watching in the Bristol area. The Club has 650+ members and a
Committee of 4 officers and 8 members to oversee the running of the Club activities. The officers and members for 2009/2010 are:
■ Chairman: Roger White
■ Secretary: Richard Belson
■ Treasurer: Sue Sayers
■ Membership Secretary: Judy Copeland membership@boc-bristol.org.uk (Please include your name and address if you are
applying for membership)
■ Elected members: Richard Brown, Ed Drewitt, Phyl Dykes, Michael Johnson, Robin Prytherch, Charles Stapleton,
Jason Williams and Gordon Youdale
■ Co-opted members: Jane Cumming, Margaret Gorely and David Wilson
■ To publish a monthly bulletin, entitled Bird News, and an annual journal Bristol Ornithology.
■ Encourage beginners in ornithology, by assistance in the field and through special indoor meetings.
■ Support and assist conservation projects by active co-operation with local organisations.
■ Promote the establishment of special study areas at Chew Valley Lake and other suitable sites.
■ Promote field research by co-operative and individual studies.
■ Hold regular indoor and field meetings throughout the year.
